Un amigo, un amigo real, alguien a quien amamos y en quien confiamos, nos va a decir todas las cosas que no queremos saber acerca de nosotros. Un amigo nos dice cuando tenemos la razón y nos ayuda a comprender cómo podríamos estar equivocados. Un amigo vociferará y gritará, pero cuando le necesitamos, él ( ella ) está ahí. Un amigo es alguien a quien no le podemos mentir. Conoce nuestros secretos y los mantiene en confianza. Un amigo nunca juzga, pero nos hará saber cuando lo estamos haciendo "otra vez". Un amigo ve nuestros errores y, sin encubrirlos, nos maneja en otra dirección. Un amigo nos empuja, nos da empellones y nos conduce muy duro. Solamente cuando pensamos que ya no podemos más, nos arranca las vendas, nos parcha y comienza a empujar de nuevo. Un amigo siempre dice cosas que no tienen sentido hasta que escuchamos a un extraño decir lo mismo. Un amigo es alguien a quien podemos mirar y vernos a nosotros mismos y saber que realmente vamos a estar bien.

A friend, a real friend, someone we love and trust, is going to tell us all the things we do not want to know about ourselves. A friend tells us when we are right and helps us understand how we could be wrong. A friend will yell and scream, but when we need him (her), he (she) is there. A friend is someone we cannot and do not lie to. He (she) knows our secrets and holds them in confidence. A friend never judges, yet will let us know when we are doing it "again". A friend sees our mistakes and, without covering them up, steers us in another direction. A friend pushes us, shoves us and drives us real hard. Just when we think we are about to break, he whips out the Band-Aids, patches us up and starts pushing again. A friend always says things that make no sense until we hear a stranger say the same thing. A friend is someone we can look at and see ourselves and know we are really going to be all right.
