Hay ocasiones cuando amar a alguien significa que debemos dejar que se vaya. No es saludable ni productivo permanecer en una relación que nos hace felices algunas veces, pero tristes la mayor parte del tiempo. Aún, nos mantenemos ahí. Nos mantenemos ahí creyendo que algo malo le sudecederá a la persona si le dejamos ir. Ese es nuestro ego diciéndonos lo que queremos oír. Perseveramos en el miedo de que nadie más les amará o nos amará a nosotros de la manera que queremos ser amados. Esta vez el ego nos está diciendo que no somos los suficiente buenos. Continuamos porque no sabemos quién o qué puede venir después. Creemos que hay carencia de compañeros o compañeras disponibles. Perseveramos en desear, esperar, tratar de hacerlo trabajar—con miedo de que no trabajará. Cuando termina una relación, es el fin; pero el amor puede vivir. Amar a alguien significa que deseamos que él o ella sean felices. Si esa persona puede ser feliz sin nosotros, amémosla lo suficiente para dejarla ir.

There are times when loving someone means we must let them go. It is not healthy or productive to remain in a relationship that makes us happy sometimes, but sad most of the time.. Yet we hang on. We hang on believing that something bad will happen to the person if we let him or her go. That is our ego tellings us what we want to hear. We hang on in fear that no one else will love them or us the way we want to be loved. This time the ego is telling us that we are not good enough. We hang on because we don't know who or what may come along. We believe there is a lack of available mates. We hang on wishing, hoping, trying to make it work—afraid it will not. When a relationship is over, it is over; but the love can live on. Loving someone means we want him or her to be happy. If that person can be happy without us, let us love enoug to let go.
